Frequently asked questions

You're sold out, when will more be available?

Each business night at 5PM PST a few of each are listed!

How much weight can a standard feeder hold?

As a precaution, we use only the highest quality industry leading adhesives. Ours has a whopping 4.4 pounds of holding strength per square inch, approximately 2991 grams, or more than 16 feeders each filled with 90 grams of feed!

Do they use suction cups?

No. During our extensive testing we've only found one reliable suction cup system. We are currently developing a feeder based around that suction system, although until then we will continue to rely on our trusty high bond adhesives that keep our feeders securely attached for our feathered friends, regardless of the elements!

Custom and personalized orders

Both the Round Portal and Pyramid Portal are available to be made in a large version (125% scale) of the feeder. To order a large feeder, simply navigate to the shop page and click "Request Custom Order." In your request, please list your choice of Round or Pyramid Portal, primary color (Main Body), and secondary color (Window Facing Retainer) choices. After sending the request, you will receive a custom invoice for checkout within 24 hours. Please note, custom orders take approximately one business week to complete.

How should I clean the feeder?

A damp warm cloth, or a vinegar/water solution, followed by drying the feeder works quite well! Just be careful not to exert extreme force while cleaning, and use a comfortable and sturdy stool to keep yourself safe!

What kind of birds can I expect to visit my window?

The types of birds that visit your window-mounted bird feeder can vary greatly depending on your location and regional bird species. However, some common visitors to window feeders include finches, sparrows, chickadees, titmice, cardinals, and nuthatches. Keep in mind that regional patterns and native bird species will impact the specific visitors you may receive at your feeder. Providing a diverse selection of seeds and suet can help attract a wider variety of birds to your window. Remember to enjoy the unique experience of birdwatching and appreciate the beauty of each bird that comes to visit!

Help, I need to attract birds!

1. Patience is key - it can take days or even weeks for birds to discover your feeder.
2. Offer quality birdseed, suet, or mealworms that are favored by local bird species.
3. Provide a nearby water source, like a birdbath, or shallow dish for birds to drink and bathe in.
4. Incorporate native plants, shrubs, and trees in your garden to create shelter and natural food sources.
5. Ensure the feeder is visible and positioned near perches where birds can rest.
6. Keep the feeder clean and consistently filled with fresh food to encourage repeat visits.

Keep in mind that regional patterns will influence the bird species you'll see, so tailor your efforts to attract local birds. Enjoy your feather friends!

What color combination is best?

In general, birds are attracted to colors that mimic natural food sources, such as red (fruits, berries) and yellow (flowers). However, more muted colors, like green, cream, or blue, can provide a sense of safety by blending with the foliage or sky.

Ultimately, your choice of colors will depend on your local bird species and your personal aesthetic preferences. Don't be afraid to experiment and see which combinations are most successful in attracting birds to your feeder. Remember, regional patterns will play a role in the bird species you'll see, so observe your local birdlife and adapt accordingly. Enjoy the process and happy birdwatching!
