Former Fashion Stylist Turned Designer
I have been extremely passionate about fashion and design since I was a child. I have very close relationships with both of my grandmothers, both very stylish, and I think those bonds and shared experiences throughout my life with them shaped a lot of the things I love, coupled with an innate imagination and creativity.
I always knew I wanted to be connected to fashion, so about 10 years ago I started wardrobe styling in Los Angeles. I came to find that particular facet of fashion was not for me, so I lost my desire for the trade, and the fashion industry as a whole. I knew I always had this thing inside me telling me I could design, but I never knew how to take the next step into production.
My husband is in the silk screen and embroidery business, so I have been able to parlay his knowledge and industry connections into producing my own garments! I have my own workshop and I am able to produce the majority of my designs in house right here in Los Angeles.
All my designs are unique and inspired by all the things I love, specifically art history, mid century Americana, the era of my childhood, the 1990's, and a deep lifelong obsession with old Hollywood. When I was about 8, one of my grandmothers took me to the Hollywood Museum of Wax in Buena Park, CA, where at the time, most of their wax vignettes were old Hollywood movies...scenes from Jean Harlow, Gary Cooper, Sophia Loren, Stella Stevens, and Marilyn Monroe movies, just to name a few. I was enamored with everything I saw, bought every postcard they had in stock, and since then I have been hooked. I like to reference vintage and historical pieces and add a modern flair.
I know this is what I am supposed to do with my life, as it's the last thing I think about before I go to bed, (if I'm not laying awake all night thinking of new ideas), and the first thing I think of every morning. As much as I love building my business and selling my designs, I love making them even more. Here's to doing what you love!
