Simon Stokes
Simon Stokes, the visionary behind Powerhouse Images, made a remarkable transition from herding sheep to capturing breathtaking landscapes. Raised in the picturesque South West of Western Australia near Collie, Simon's journey from a rural farm to a bustling boarding school in Perth is as unpredictable as herding cats.
With deep family roots in Murchison station country and ownership of the Mumbullup pub, Simon's appreciation for Western Australia's natural beauty runs deep. Despite his youthful aversion to farm chores, his connection to the land has always been strong.
Before finding his passion for photography, Simon explored Western Australia extensively, working with Elders Pastoral and representing an animal health company in Geraldton. His love for photography flourished during his graphic design studies at Curtin University, where his camera became his constant companion.
Powerhouse Images was born from Simon's desire to share the captivating landscapes he's documented. Join him on a visual journey through the stunning vistas of Western Australia and beyond, as he captures the beauty, humor, and unexpected moments of life through his lens.
Elizabeth Paton
Elizabeth Paton finds her greatest joy in capturing the diverse colors, shapes, and textures of the land she loves. Growing up in the South West town of Katanning, Western Australia, Elizabeth's connection to the landscape is deeply personal. Her close-up work on flowers reveals a captivating and challenging side of nature.
With a Fine Art background from Claremont Technical College, Elizabeth's photography extends her passion for drawing and painting. The camera is her modern tool of expression, essential for her creative fulfillment.
Kerry Cook
Kerry Cook shares Elizabeth's sentiment, having spent his early years in the South West, including Katanning. Born in Margaret River, Kerry's passion for the land spans from ocean to desert. His photography and love for music come together to express the joy and drama of the natural world.
Inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson's philosophy that photography is about aligning one's head, eye, and heart, Kerry captures the human experience through his Nikon equipment, with minimal filtration to maintain authenticity.
