Frequently asked questions

Can I light my tiny candle with a lighter?

We strongly recommend using the matches we sell on our shop. If you run out, an electric or long neck lighter will do alright.

Please don't use a small lighter. It will only fill your jar with black smoke and/or soot, and melt the wax out of the jar from holding it upside down.

Caring for your Container Candle

The initial burn is the most important! For an even burn and no tunneling, please allow enough time for the melted wax to reach the edges. It can take around 2-3 hours.

Avoid burning your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time.

As all candles burn, carbon builds up. If you light a candle that has carbon built up on the wick, it will cause soot (black smoke) to stick to the corner of the jar. To avoid this trim your wick before each use to 1/4".

Ensure candle is on a stable, flat surface away from other flammable materials.

Never extinguish a candle by blowing. Always use a candle snuffer, wick dipper or simply close it with the lid.

Your candle is finished when there is a small amount of wax left (approx. ½ inch) within the vessel

Caring for your Pillar Candle

Use an appropriate candle holder and never place directly on furniture.

Always place candles on a flat, level, heat resistant surface away from drafts and combustibles.

Burn candles 1 hour for every inch the candle is wide ie: a 3” pillar should burn a minimum of 3-4 hours every time.

Discontinue use when 1/2" of wax remains.
