The surprise at the end of the day
I began my shop when my husband went back to school and I transitioned from part time work outside the home to full time stay at home mom. I soon became aware that I needed a creative outlet and some extra income.
Throughout the next year I discovered how much I enjoyed working with recycled wool sweaters. I started making Christmas stockings which seemed to be a natural fit with the colorful wool.
Because I am around children daily, I have been inspired by their interests as well as the sentimental toys from my own childhood.
Finding my materials can be challenging and yet a very exciting thrill-of-the-hunt. Sometimes I look for very specific pieces of custom projects and other times I pick patterns or colors that I love and then see what comes out of that sweater later. The size and shape of the sweater usually dictate what I create.
From an environmental standpoint, I love that I can make something fun, functional and beautiful from existing materials. Plus, wool is natural and safe for children, naturally antimicrobial and moisture wicking.
