Extiende la tinta a través de una superficie elevada, luego transfiere esa tinta a otra superficie, como papel o tela, y tendrás, esencialmente, una impresión en bloque. Lo encantador de ellos es que una vez que has hecho ese bloque, a su vez puedes hacer una serie de impresiones a partir de él, por lo que si bien cada impresión tirada a mano es única debido a las variables en las formas en que la tinta y el papel interactúan, también son bastante asequibles, y estoy encantado de tener una manera de hacer que el arte original sea accesible.
PressingNeeds nació de mi desesperación por hacer regalos una temporada navideña pobre en efectivo ... y luego, cuando mostré las impresiones que había hecho a mis amigos, comenzaron a preguntar sobre comprarlas. Estaba feliz de complacer, y comencé a consignar las impresiones en algunos lugares locales, y abrí esta tienda de Etsy.
Todos mis diseños son originales, adaptados de mis propias fotos y dibujos. Yo mismo tallo los bloques (linóleo o goma blanda) y saco cada impresión a mano. ¡Me encanta experimentar con diferentes combinaciones de tinta y papel y materiales de encuadre!
La adición más reciente al estudio es una prensa de mesa Kelsey Excelsior de 1939, que me permite agregar artículos impresos en tipografía, tarjetas, invitaciones y papelería a mis ofertas, utilizando bloques de impresora y tipo vintage, así como bloques de linóleo que he creado yo mismo para productos de papel distintivos, divertidos y expresivos.
Spread ink across a raised surface, then transfer that ink onto another surface, like paper or fabric, and you've got - essentially - a block print. The lovely thing about them is that once you've made that block, you can in turn make a number of prints from it, so while each hand-pulled print is unique because of variables in the ways ink and paper interact, they're also quite affordable, and i'm delighted to have a way to make original art accessible.
PressingNeeds was born out of my desperation to make gifts one cash-poor Christmas season... and then when i showed the prints i'd made to friends, they started asking about buying them. I was happy to oblige, and started consigning the prints at a few local places, and opened up this Etsy shop.
All my designs are original, adapted from my own photos and drawings. I carve the blocks (linoleum or soft rubber) myself, and pull each print by hand. I love experimenting with different combinations of ink and paper and framing materials!
The newest addition to the studio is a rescued 1939 Kelsey Excelsior tabletop press, allowing me to add letterpress printed items, cards, invitations, and stationery to my offerings, using vintage type and printer's blocks, as well as linoleum blocks i've created myself for distinctive, fun, and expressive paper goods.
