Jewelry Handmade with Care and Best Wishes!
Handmade jewelry has been my latest creative adventure! I began making jewelry as a form of physical therapy after I suffered nerve damage to my left hand. As I'm a south paw, this was not a happy event. However, I decided to approach the situation with a positive outlook, and inspired by a friend who is a jewelry artist, I began to make earrings. Soon earrings led to bracelets and then to necklaces, and I found myself immersed in the wonderful world of jewelry creating!
Now here I am, helming PrettyGonzo, which is named after a wee orange-and-white stray cat who came to my door ten winters ago, crying for food. He quickly won my heart with his sweetness, smarts, and social charm. Of course, Gonzo is a stray no longer, and as a much healthier and happier fellow now, he welcomes everyone who stops by "his" shop to nose around.
Gonzo graces my banner and my shop avatar. As you can see, he truly is a very pretty boy. :)
Two years ago, I expanded my jewelry-making by offering Catholic chaplet bracelets. My late mother was the inspiration for this. She passed away before I began making jewelry, and I've so often wished I could make something for her. Because she loved the rosary, I thought of rosary bracelets and began to imagine what she would like. Today, I have a modest line of chaplet styles and hope to expand that line considerably in the future. I always feel close to my mom when working on chaplets, and each one is a loving meditation.
PrettyGonzo is located in the Providence, Rhode Island, area.
As a matter of note: Although I opened a shop on Etsy in 2010, I listed items for only a short time before concentrating on a different venue. Thus my shop here was empty for several years. In 2015, I returned and slowly filled my Etsy shop with new handmade jewelry creations. Now, this is PrettyGonzo's main shop. Thanks for reading!
