Earrings for Every Outfit
I started making polymer clay earrings for myself back in 2009 when I realized there weren't any types of FUN gauged earrings for me to wear. Due to a large "blowout" in one of my lobes, I wasn't able to find plugs or tunnels with a large enough wearable area. When I'd seen a friend of mine with some handmade polymer clay earrings of her own creation, I realized that a whole new window of opportunity had opened before me. With all the different colors of clay, the possibilities were endless!
Granted, at first, my creations were quite awful, but I practiced a LOT! I had a small, cardboard box I'd bought from the craft store that I was determined to fill before the end of the summer. I wanted every color and shape imaginable so that I could wear a new pair of earrings every day and every outfit. I ended up filling that box full of colorful earrings by the end of the summer, and got quite a lot of compliments when I'd wear them. Even though they were pretty bad, I thought to myself, "maybe others would enjoy wearing my creations." At that point, I opened my first Etsy shop, and I've been selling ever since. :)
