Creativity Found and Unleashed
I have always been a creative and outgoing person, love working with my hands, and tinkering with things. When I was younger, I played the trumpet, was in many bands, and was constantly creating. I took art and music seriously. With the birth of my daughter, I had to put many things on the back burner as a single mom. I became a master auto technician which at the time, filled my needs of working with my hands. Now that she is grown, I struggled to find something that inspired me to be "creative" again. When I saw my first feather earring the juices started flowing like crazy....I knew this was it! It wasn't as easy to do as I thought, but I love a challenge.
First I had to figure out were to even get the feathers, since most are the type you can not go to the craft store to buy. I only use feathers from American farmers. I then clean, sanitize, and dye in small batches.
Then I had to work hard to figure out a technique to make the jewelry durable and last. I found out quickly in the beginning that hot glue does not do the job. There is also no info out there on how to dye the feathers, which is a tricky process that I had to learn on my own. It's all been a great experience!
I also recently took my creativity to another level and started my new line of dangle plugs and feather plugs. My inspiration came from my clients that had stretched ears asking me if I could create something they could wear. I started creating them so they could wear my lovely feather creations. I soon after expanded to create other dangle designs that are great for work, formal events, and every day wear.
I make everything I sell with my own 2 hands, all the way down to the packing and shipping.
