There is an Atavistic, Ancient and Primitive need that binds us to Mother Nature, it is a primordial need that sooner or later in the life of each of us in one way or another will demand attention and space.
So it was for me. But it was radical, definitive.
After living for ten years in different European capitals one fine day, something happened, that city that was previously my home became a place to escape from, and Nature the refuge, the safe haven.
So it was that I returned to Italy, to my land, to Tuscany and I decided to go and live in the countryside, in a remote and isolated area, I did not want distractions, I had a lot to recover, to learn, to observe.
Like a modern Hermit I removed the superfluous, I removed everything.
No electricity, no water, no fridge... nothing.
I chose to live, as they say in America OFF-THE-GRID
So oil lamps, candles, wood stove and a small solar panel guaranteed me to be able to recharge those few things that I had decided to keep, in total self-sufficiency.
It was in the quiet silence between the flames of the fireplace and the uncertain light of a candle that PROMETHEUS was born.
When you isolate yourself, you detach yourself from the system, even if for a short time, you change the perspective and you can see everything with different eyes you perceive the mechanism, the gigantic gear that makes everything move,
Unbridled consumerism, programmed obsolescence are the real masters in a disposable world.
It was there that I understood that I had to reverse the trend and I made a decision, I made a choice... guarantee my products for life.
For this reason, Prometheus products are entirely hand-sewn and use only Tuscan Cowhide.
Pillar of the Tuscan tanning tradition: the Vacchetta, an article that bases its foundations on a timeless classic like the Natural and does nothing but add a double dose of fattening in the Barrel, making the skin soft and pasty but always supported like any Real Vegetable Tanned Leather. Created to perfection even today as it was once done, the fundamental ingredient in addition to Tannin is Sego a perfect mix of animal and vegetable fats that gives the skin a unique touch and a duration over time that has no comparison. It is tanned with substances extracted from the bark of some trees (Quebracho, Chestnut, Mimosa. Etc.). The bark of these trees is particularly rich in tannins, substances that bind to the collagen fibers that form the skin forming a layer highly resistant to traction and abrasion, the choice of an important thickness (3.5 mm) is a feature that makes this skin particularly suitable for the production of articles intended for intense use outdoors.
The ultimate goal is quality and durability... that time they stole from us.

C‘é un bisogno Atavico, Antico e Primitivo che ci lega a doppio filo a Madre Natura, è un bisogno primordiale che prima o poi nella vita di ognuno di noi in un modo o in un altro reclamerà attenzioni e spazio.
Così fu per me. Ma fu radicale, definitivo.
Dopo aver vissuto per dieci anni in diverse capitali europee un bel giorno, successe qualcosa, quella città che prima era la mia casa divenne un posto da cui scappare, e la Natura il rifugio, il porto sicuro.
Fu così che tornai in Italia, nella mia terra, in Toscana e decisi di andare a vivere in campagna, in una zona remota e isolata, non volevo distrazioni, avevo molto da recuperare, da imparare, da osservare.
Come un moderno Eremita tolsi il superfluo, tolsi tutto.
Niente corrente, niente acqua, niente frigo… niente.
Scelsi di vivere, come si dice in America OFF-THE-GRID
Quindi lampade ad olio ,candele, stufa a legna e un piccolo pannello solare mi garantiva di poter ricaricare quelle poche cose che avevo deciso di tenere, in totale autosufficienza.
Fu nel pacato silenzio tra le fiamme del camino e la luce incerta di una candela che nacque PROMETHEUS.
Quando ti isoli, ti distacchi dal sistema, anche se per poco, cambi la prospettiva e riesci a vedere tutto con occhi diversi ne percepisci il meccanismo, il gigantesco ingranaggio che tutto fa muovere,
Il consumismo sfrenato, l’ obsolescenza programmata sono i veri padroni in un mondo usa e getta.
Fu lì che capii che dovevo invertire la tendenza e presi una decisione, feci una scelta… garantire i miei prodotti a vita.
Per questo i prodotti Prometheus sono interamente cuciti a mano e utilizzano esclusivamente Vacchetta Toscana.
Pilastro della tradizione conciaria Toscana: la Vacchetta, un articolo che fonda le proprie basi su un classico intramontabile come il Naturale e non fa altro che aggiungere una doppia dose di ingrasso nella Botte, rendendo la pelle morbida e pastosa ma sempre sostenuta come ogni Vera Pelle Conciata al Vegetale. Creato a regola d'arte ancora oggi come si faceva una volta, l'ingrediente fondamentale oltre al Tannino è il Sego un mix perfetto di grassi animali e vegetali che dona alla pelle un tatto unico e una durata nel tempo che non ha paragoni. Essa viene conciata con sostanze estratte dalla corteccia di alcuni alberi (Quebracho, Castagno, Mimosa. Etc.). La corteccia di questi alberi è particolarmente ricca di tannini, sostanze che si legano alle fibre del collagene che formano la pelle formando uno strato altamente resistente alla trazione e all' abrasione, la scelta di uno spessore importante ( 3,5mm ) è una caratteristica che rende questa pelle particolarmente adatta alla realizzazione di articoli destinati ad uso intenso in ambito outdoor.
L’obbiettivo finale è la qualità e la durata nel tempo… quel tempo che ci hanno rubato.
Il tempo per vivere. Il tempo per noi stessi.
Il tempo per guardare il cielo o un ape muoversi in un balletto antico con il suo fiore preferito.
Ecco, riprendiamoci il tempo e spendiamolo per ritrovare quel contatto con quella natura che ora più che mai ha bisogno di tutti Noi.
E come diceva Gary Snyder :
“La natura non è un posto da visitare. E’ casa nostra.”
