Every item has a story, I suppose there's one for me too
Thanks for stopping to take a look at the items on the invisible shelves of Pyewachet Treasure Co. I'm Pye and I'm in the midst of doing the thing that I love best! And that happiness has been growing for more years than I can imagine.
I have been working in both retail and direct mail marketing since my first job out of college. I lucked into walking into a job as an assistant buyer - a position that usually requires much scratching and clawing. I moved from Direct Mail into the Management Training program of one of America's storied retailers: Julius Garfinckel and Co. in Washington, DC where my first assignment was with china, crystal, and silver. I spent *many* Saturdays in the store helping build tablescape ideas for our Bridal Registry customers, giving a little advice here and a lot of praise there. I taught dozens of (future) grooms how to hold a teacup without dumping hot tea in their lap, and explained how certain colors of table linen look best with certain colors of china, porcelain, stoneware, etc.
From there I was a stationery buyer for another carriage trade retailer, expanding my previous bridal knowledge to helping create invitations for weddings, cocktail parties, costume parties, and yes, funerals.
From there, I was on to the National Trust from Historic Preservation (USA) as a general merchandise manager for museum shops from Massachusetts to South Carolina, from Cedar Rapids to Los Angeles. I loved it! Visiting all the museums and getting to go "backstage" to help select items for the Trust's licensing program. I still see some of those licensed products on the secondary market today!
So here I am, doing what I love best: curating the best and most interesting pieces from my travels... items that catch my attention and I feel they have a *special* story to tell: a story for you.
Have a glance through my shop and if you have any questions at all or need assistance, I'm always more than happy to help however I can. I bet that together, you and I can find something that you will love in your home, or that will make the perfect gift.
And if you're looking for something that you don't see here - feel free to ask. My BOLO list is long, but //*wink*// I know where to shop for what my customers want.
Welcome! Have fun. I'm glad you stopped by.
- Pye
