Queenspring, een opkomend kunstcollectief uit Worcester, biedt kunstenaars een platform om de totaliteit van zichzelf te verkennen en uit te drukken via hun werk. Wij geloven in de kracht van het omarmen van zowel lichte als donkere aspecten van de menselijke ervaring. Onze kunstenaars verdiepen zich in thema's als cultureel erfgoed, seksualiteit, creatieve inspiratie en mentale gezondheid, verenigd door het concept van "saudade" - een Portugees woord voor de onuitsprekelijke melancholische staat van verlangen naar iets, of iemand, dat ooit was.
In een tijdperk waarin de meeste dingen worden uitbesteed, kijken de kunstenaars van Queenspring Collective naar binnen om handgemaakte kunstwerken te creëren die je stevig in het heden verankeren. We gebruiken een mix van collage, lijn- en figuurtekeningen, aquarellen, linosneden en digitalisering om unieke stukken tot leven te brengen die op de een of andere manier commentaar leveren op actuele thema's in de politiek, popcultuur en sociale verandering.
Noodzakelijkerwijs kunnen de onderwerpen waar het Collectief commentaar op geeft en de thema's die het Collectief onderzoekt, minder smakelijk zijn. We gebruiken onze lichtjes gestoorde en oneerbiedige humor om deze kwesties smakelijker te maken, zonder de grote boodschap te verdoezelen of af te leiden: vrijheid en gelijkheid voor alle mensen, ongeacht geslacht, seksuele geaardheid, ras, geloof of land.

Queenspring, a burgeoning Worcester-based art collective, provides a platform for artists to explore and express the totality of themselves through their work. We believe in the power of embracing both light and dark aspects of the human experience. Our artists delve into themes of cultural heritage, sexuality, creative inspiration, and mental health, united by the concept of "saudade" – a Portuguese word for the ineffable melancholic state of longing for something, or someone, that once was.
In an age when most things are outsourced, Queenspring Collective’s artists look within to create hand-made pieces of art that anchor you firmly in the present. We use a mix of collage, line and figure drawings, watercolors, linocuts, and digitization to bring to life one-of-a-kind pieces that, in one way or another, comment on current themes in politics, pop-culture, and social change.
Necessarily, topics the Collective comments on, and the themes the Collective explores, can be less than savory. We use our slightly unhinged and irreverent sense of humor to make these issues more palatable, without obfuscating or distracting from the big take away: freedom and equality for all people regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, faith, or country.
