Junior High Home Ec Finally Paid Off!
My friend and colleague, Robin, gave me a sewing tutorial in the summer of 2014. I had not sewn since junior high home economics. Books and ideas are important to me, but I also believe in making things, doing. My first quilts (if you can even call them that) were lopsided, sad creations, and I am amazed anyone accepted them as gifts. I kept sewing and sewing and sewing on my Janome Sew Mini, until I felt confident enough to graduate to a machine with more power. I have made over 60 quilts, most for friends and family. Happily, some are baby quilts; sadly but just as importantly, some are bereavement quilts. I am constantly designing quilts in my head when I am driving, watching a play, or in the grocery story check out line. I decided it was time to open an Etsy shop when I was asked to participate in the 2016 East Nashville Tomato Art Show by Meg, the owner of Art and Invention Gallery in East Nashville and the founder of the Tomato Art Show. I make four types of quilts: 1.NAPPER: (doll), 2.WHIPPER SNAPPER: (baby/toddler), 3.LAPPER: (to go across the legs), 4.WRAPPER: (to go across the shoulders).
