From Traditional to Textiles arts... I love it all.
I started Quilty Critters® in 2007 after realizing that many of my friends and family loved my little kitty cats made from bits of recycled antique quilt and vintage buttons, which were little tokens of my appreciation at Christmastime. I would keep a dish of the created ornaments at the door and give them to all who visited.
It was asked of me where I sold them... but I didn't! So I decided to create more of them and put them in coffee houses and cafe's in the local Newton, NJ area. Then I started to sell them on ebay. Some of them fetched quite a following - and there is even a children's museum in Korea which features them in an American crafts exhibit! They are all over the world at this point, having sold well over 5,000 (as of 2018!) of the little critters - which range in size and species from Anteater to Zebra!
I often do custom animals per photograph, pet memorials, and donations to animals shelters (from Weasels to Cocker Spaniels and more!) and I have a specific butterfly Quilty Critter that I make with the sole purpose of donating 100% to The Epilepsy Foundation. Doing good makes one feel good... and so I try to do my small part! I have donated to a great many animals rescue leagues as well.
I make many many crafts, I paint, I draw, I create, I design... and everything about me is an influence and inspiration. You might say life itself inspires me.
On a personal note, I am the mother of three - aged 31-36, and two grandchildren, a sweet girl and lovely boy - and they have always been the world to me, even helping me with my creations along the way.
