My Pretties began as a child collecting them throughout my life
Walking along a trout stream in the mountains of Tennessee or North Carolina with my Dad, I would get distracted by flashes of light on crystals along the rocky creek side, stop pick it up then after examining it put it in my pocket.
I did this for many years and then one year I found myself able to actually get a position with a company that bought and sold gemstones and jewelry from around the world on TV to other collectors of Pretties.
I immediately began collecting them for myself, with the hopes of actually making jewelry with some of them at some future point, possibly when I retired. I was now sorting and grading gemstones, and shortly later had become a buyer for the company.
Little did I know that by this point in my career I was going from only one of two people in the company with perfect color identification ability to one with sudden onset macro degeneration. Within a few months I no longer had the accute color differentiation vision I had prior and eventually had to retire early.
By this time I had quite the collection of gemstones, specimens and also jewelry making tools and a large assortment of wires, beads and castings semi mounts and jewelry making components and findings.
I had been making jewelry pieces, beading and some stone setting all along while employed by the company, so also had hundreds of pieces of jewelry from necklaces, chokes, pendants on chains, beaded and strung pearls and crystals to solitaire and semi mount rings, some with earrings to match.
Now I wondered what I could do with all my Pretties? I found Etsy and set up this shop ROXMYWAY, along with my Jewelry shop MOblingmaker.
ROXMYWAY would be my outlet for my gemstones and MOblingmaker, my outlet for my New and Made-Over Jewelry pieces. Both with the hopes of finding others who were equally as excited as I was at finding these special gifts from nature and the one of a kind jewelry pieces made from them.
I hope you find something that grabs your eye, captures your imagination, and sings to your spirit.
