In Anatolia, Rug weaving, was an art almost all women in villages learned at an early age and passed it on next generations. However, it was not an easy task considering the technology those days and it had been asking for cooperation among members of the families. After sheep had been shorn, all members worked together to clean shorn wools. They beat the wool with wooden sticks for hours sometimes a full day to get rid of every single dirt. Then women hang wools leave them to get dry. Spinning dried wool into yarn using a spindle was requiring both physical effort and an enormous amount of time. Not all the yarns were great for transforming into a rug. They have been classified one by one into segments according to their thickness and quality. Only some would be great for rugs and kilims. The left would be used for other purposes like clothing, etc. On the other hand, traditional colorization process would involve into the whole story. Families were picking various root plants around their villages and boil them in big tanks to dye the wool with their dream colors. After yarns got ready, they have been sent to handloom where the dream begins. Every single rug weaving neighborhood in Anatolia such as Oushak, Malatya, Kayseri, Sivas, Kars had different stories for their dreams.
