I started the The Rabbits Nests Designs as a creative outlet with... Old Fashion Charm and a little touch of whimsy. My work reflects a passion for the vintage & antiques with it's romance, delightful quirkiness & seamless blend of the old and new...
My inspiration comes me raising English Angora Rabbits and also have nostalgia old fashion hand spun yarn.
I attempt to capture a sense of hope, optimism and good old-fashioned eccentricity with my characters. I love faded, ice cream colours of the country side, give a feeling of pathos and nostalgia: the wind is often blowing, the weather is sometimes wet, love is often unrequited and there is always sand in the sandwiches.
I always desire & interested to explore ideas through hand-made illustrations, largely inspired by vintage art and children's books. My designs are nostalgic and whimsical of a time long ago...
Each piece is hand painted by using mixed media and the colors are a combinations of wash-out blues, somber greys, rusty browns, blushing pinks, faded mints, peppercorn black, white linen, pearl, antique whites, ash lavender, chalk and erus quality inks to give the piece a time worn appearance.
I love using mix media, pencil, oil pastels, colored inks & my own idiomatic techniques; which I depict a world of faded ice-cream colours, where the breeze is blowing and life is utterly delicious!
