Rabbit Paws: Wherein Wild Resides
Origins:
✶ Amidst a clearing of Southern live oaks draped in Spanish moss stars are manifold in the sky, and she, rests her faith in the divine ✶
✧ Awestruck of the natural world since adolescence, I'd read any nonfiction book about floral and fauna I could get my hands on. Within this fascination I found reason in upholding a personal responsibility to learn of the biodiverse Florida wetlands I call home. An allure to mysticism and ecological studies fostered the foundation of Rabbit Paws.
✧ Initially, I started my business as a way to overcome social anxiety while still in high school. I sold my novice wares in a dingy and dimly lit brick alleyway that was transformed into a pop-up art gallery during our area's monthly art walks. This allowed me to establish footing in the local community, earning me the title of the "bone lady." My jewelry making skills have refined over the years and I decided to pursue Rabbit Paws full time in 2017.
✧ I am an intuitive artist who specializes in upcycling ethically sourced animal bones, brass, and stone into handcrafted adornments. Visualization and communing with my highest self aid the creative process; whilst summoning inspiration from themes in tarot— both the Major & Minor Arcana, celestial bodies, deities, Art Nouveau, death, rebirth, and of course, nature. My aesthetic, reminiscent of Victorian psychic parlor vibes, reflects my eclectic spiritual practice.
✧ Most bone pieces are distinctive and not replicated due to availability of resources; I believe this exclusivity honors each creatures' passing. Through my craft, I combine mystical properties of crystals with feral energy tapped inside nature's remnants. I've refashioned the construct of utilizing remains which tends to be perceived as uncouth or primitive. My goal is invoking curiosity and emboldening individuals who don't necessarily like bones to embrace the unconventional with my ethereal designs.
