I was the little girl who kept all things shiney, tiny, and decorative- even damaged bits could not be thrown away. Fondest memories are of choosing a special button from my Grandma's sewing basket, and learning to knit, sew and bead, on my own and with help from others. With much encouragement from family, I created dolll wardrobes, decorated hair clips and made toys, bags and jewelry for friends and family. Home Ec in high school developed stitching skills, and after graduating with a BSc Human Ecology in Clothing and Textiles I began work as Head of Wardrobe at a small theatre. My years at Le Cercle Moliere were an amazing opportunity for learning and discovering as I was fortunate to work all areas of wardrobe: buying, cutting, stitching, dyeing, breakdown, shoes, accessories, and show running. My interest in vintage fashion and appreciation for recycling and up cling developed as I freelanced in theatre and dance, and participation in a Master Class Theatre Arts Millinery course at the Banff Centre was key to my career development.
During my years of work as a costumer and milliner, I have retained my interest in vintage fashion, jewels and all things related. As I travel extensively for work, mostly with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, I can't help but continue to attain interesting materials, patterns, and true vintage treasures that I know others will appreciate as well. I am committed to share these treasures through my etsy shop, not only as supplies and materials, but with a few of my own creations as well. I carefully select everything I list, whether it be materials, patterns, vintage accessories, clothing, or a creation of my own.
