RandomStuff---is just that!
When my husband & I got married in 2005, he had turned his first pen just a couple months prior. 30 Days after we got married--we did our first show!! Our marriage has survived that ...and slowly, I started adding things to our booth. First--I had a corner of his table... then a 4' table... then a shelf behind that...and by 2007, we would get two booths, and after a few transitions (I suffer, like many, from Crafter's ADHD)-- RANDOMSTUFF was born-- mainly from the agonizing decision on what to name my etsy shop!!
We named our 'first' craft business- MikCon Creations- for Mike & Connie- with an idea that I would be expanding on things I made. But, when it came to an etsy shop-it was mainly going to be "my" things-- vintage clothing, pens that Mike makes, paper & fun things that I made, vintage stuff-- and ALL just a bunch of random things!! When I mentioned that to Mike- he said, why not just CALL it RandomStuff? SO-- here we are!!
After that genius suggestion--it didn't take long to come up with the theme for a shop header or logo---one that I designed myself. At the time, we were living part time outside Birmingham Alabama--and the "R" in Randomstuff is from WBRC's television sign atop Red Mountain!
Since opening my etsy shop, I have been blessed to have my shop grow, as well as my 'real life' craft show business. Mike has slowed down on pen making due to health issues, while I have increased my number of shows. In 2014, after the death of my long time patient, I left the world of caregiving to enter the crafting world full time. It hasn't been easy, but I LOVE IT!!! I've met the NICEST people at shows, many who have shopped with me on etsy--and each show is like a mini reunion!
It cannot be expressed enough, as to what a joy it is to do something that you love!!! So many of the things I make are personal to people-- as most are nostalgic & relates to their childhood, something they do as a hobby or just enjoy!! Even men like my craft show booths!!! It just makes my heart proud to hear someone say "I can't believe you have this--- my aunt Trudy LOVES Peanuts!!", as they're picking up a necklace made from vintage comics, or a journal made from an old book. At the risk of tooting my own horn, my craft booths ARE unique as I have things that are different---and I am the first to offer the square link bracelets (on etsy & at shows) which are my best seller---its not often one finds themselves as the 'first' at anything craft-wise, especially on Etsy!!! I hope you will check my website to see my show schedule & come see me sometime!!! Mention it to me---and I'll pay your sales tax for you!!
Thank you for stopping by! I truly appreciate your business!
