David Martin's journey as a photographer is a vivid tapestry woven from his deep-rooted appreciation for the earth's natural splendor. A Miami native, David's path to photography was self-guided, ignited by a Kodak 110 camera received at the tender age of 12. His passion for capturing landscapes and nature's wonders led him to the prestigious New York Institute of Photography, where he honed his craft with a keen eye and boundless curiosity.
David's camera has been his faithful companion on a whirlwind of global adventures. From the bustling streets of Japan and Korea to the serene beaches of the Virgin Islands and New Zealand, his lens has captured a multitude of cultures and landscapes. His photographic odyssey has taken him across continents to the Bahamas, India, Guam, Puerto Rico, Belize, St. Maarten, Canada, and Mexico, with each destination leaving its unique imprint on his work. Residing in the United States, David has also delved into the heart of political and social movements, notably documenting Barack Obama’s historic 2008 presidential campaign.
Beyond the natural world, David's portfolio is a rich mosaic of diverse genres. He has an impressive repertoire in model and fashion photography, fitness, travel imagery, and intimate family portraits. His distinctive vision has been recognized and featured by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and Schmap Travel Guides, showcasing his versatility and artistic prowess.
Complementing his photographic journey is David's profound love for music. The eclectic rhythms of jazz, hip-hop, pop, R&B, indie, alternative/rock, dub, soul, and oldies form the soundtrack of his creative process. As he weaves visual stories through his lens, these diverse musical genres infuse his work with rhythm and soul, mirroring his vibrant and exploratory spirit in the art of photography.
