It is time to hoodie the masses.
Raskol Ink. started from the sheer love of hoodies. I was sitting outside at a local pub with a friend.
We were conversing about art and then about hoodies and then about art on hoodies. We talked about what made a good hoodie and what made a good hoodie design. After this conversation I began searching for a good hoodie,
the kind that fit, the kind that made the person who wore it look good and feel good in it.
In my search I found the companies I wanted to work with, American Apparel and Alternative Apparel. They are both sweatshop free and their hoodies fit men and women in a hip fashionable manner. Some styles have Eco-Friendly options and are designed to fit the frivolous fashion of a 20 year old or the sophistication of 60.
My designs go through several steps before they are ready to be burned on the screen. Usually I draw the design 3-5 times, the final is then drawn on tracing paper that I soak in vegetable oil. It is then ready to be transferred to the screen.
All of the screenprinting takes place in my garage which is also where I paint and experiment with encaustic art.
I still have tons to learn but I suppose with art one always does and that is what keeps me excited and interested in the persuit of it.
