Re-Up Designs Co. is a boutique greeting card company made 100% out of upcycled materials. Motivated by Detroit’s lack of recycling, I transform materials that would otherwise end up in the trash, into unique, handcrafted cards and envelopes. No two cards are the same. Nothing is wasted. And everything is made in Detroit.

WHY MY PRODUCTS EXIST
Always just a hobby, I never really considered doing anything with my love of crafting. When I came up with the idea for this business, I had just moved to a brand new city, and was completely broke during the holidays. As I was struggling with what in the heck I was going to bring to my family Christmas celebration, I read an article about the lack of infrastructural recycling in the downtown area where I live, and it just clicked! Holidays, tons of paper waste, it's all free, make something with it! And that's exactly what I did.

WHY MY PRODUCTS ARE THE COOLEST
Let's face it, I chose an industry with just about a million card creators all making the same kinds of things. So what makes my cards different? Even handmade greeting cards are no longer that unique of a concept. But what brings my greeting cards above and beyond the rest is my design and production process.

While most card makers go to the craft store or paper store for their production materials, I go dumpster diving! Well, sort of. I have several small arrangements with friends of mine, stores, and businesses in my neighborhood, who allow me to go through their recycling trash before it hits the dumpsters. So I suppose you could say I go pre-dumpster diving.

From here, most of my creative process starts with an idea for a card. Because I use non-traditional materials, most of my design process is spent figuring out what materials work best together to execute that idea. It's a lot of trial and error, that's for sure, but it's never boring! And the result is that every card you receive is uniquely handcrafted and truly one-of-a-kind.

WHY MY PRODUCTS ARE WORTH IT
