Work Green - Give Back
Having traveled to over 50 countries, I've come across many re-purposing innovations from all over the world. Simple items that are converted to serve a different purpose from it's initial intent. From old telephone wire converted into trendy, colorful weaved baskets to cutting off the tops of an ordinary plastic bottle and using it as a spout! I have always wanted to work with a material that I could create different things with and with a passion for wanting to run my own business, I one day discovered how something as simple as a glass bottle could be re-purposed into many new useful items that both serve a new purpose and still have great appeal. So I decided to teach myself about glass and jumped right in!
The idea behind Recast Glass is that my items are made up from materials which are either; all-natural, organic, non-toxic, recycled, recyclable and produced in a manner in which has a low environmental impact, so as not to defeat the purpose of reducing waste. Unlike other shops that don't take this into account and defeat the purpose of upcycling. I was initially going to use a kiln to re-shape some of my items, but because of the high energy usage, I decided to stick with just cutting. I keep my products and the packaging simple, useful and appealing. Many items can also be used for a variety of other purposes.
