Recess Photography is the capture of everyday images that escape us unless we pay attention.
On January 2010, my daughter and I decided to take a picture every single day and publish it. We were both full-time teachers, we shared the responsibility, and we were beyond faithful. Before midnight, a picture from the day was online. The next year, I did the same. This time it was solo and with the lead of a daily "assignment". "Make a photograph that is glowing today. Use any meaning of the word you like." I grew and stretched and the pictures became part of my everyday life. I couldn't stop.
Working full time as a teacher, made me reach to look for the best moment of each day. My eyes were always open. Now I am "partially" retired. My daughter and I run a small company, "Recess TEC, Inc." where we travel throughout the Midwest to teach and train teachers to use technology in the classroom. I love to travel. I grew up as an "army brat" and attended 15 schools in twelve years. My mother grew up in Germany, and we spent several tours stationed close to my family home there. I have used my life experiences in my teaching, and I view visiting new places as the very best way to learn and connect.
As more people saw my photography, I received requests for printed pictures. I became known as the "lady with the camera". I was invited to enter my pieces in an art show, and now I have them for sale in our local artisan gallery. Several people asked me to put my photographs on Etsy, and thus begins a new journey...
