Giving New Life To Old Records - One Memory At A Time
It all began the way many meaningful things do — with a simple request from a friend.
Back in 2012, Michael was asked to make a handmade gift — something personal and unique. Around the same time, he’d picked up a rotary tool at a garage sale and was eager to try it out. On a whim, he grabbed an old vinyl record and began cutting, shaping it into something new. He wasn’t sure if it would even work, but when he saw his friend’s reaction, he realized it was more than just a creative experiment.
What started as one handmade gift slowly grew into something more. Michael and his wife, Ashley, began crafting together, experimenting with city skylines, shapes, and vintage record labels. Piece by piece, their passion turned into Records Redone — a way to give new life to forgotten records while helping people celebrate the songs, places, and moments that matter most.
Every piece we make is individually created — no assembly line, no factory. Just two people who love what they do, carefully transforming pieces of music history into art that tells a story. Each design celebrates a milestone — a wedding, an anniversary, a first home, or simply a way to express love and gratitude.
For us, this work has never been just about décor. It’s about being invited into people’s lives and helping commemorate life’s most meaningful moments — proposals, anniversaries, retirements, graduations, and everything in between. Each piece we send out into the world is a small part of someone’s story, and that’s something we never take for granted.
At its heart, Records Redone is about connection — to music, to memories, and to each other.
And for the vinyl lovers out there — don’t worry. Every album we use comes from the long-forgotten bins of Michigan record stores, far from perfect but ready for a second life.
