The flint and steel I received is just as pictured. I probably should have gotten a bigger one, though. When the seller says "small", they aren't kidding. The steel is only ant 2 1/2 inches from end to end (if that). It makes getting a good grip difficult. That isn't she sellers fault. It's mine for not getting a larger one. Still, it will display well. So, it will still find a place in my reenactment kit.

I love working with recycled metal and all the possibilities that it brings

My name is Joel Forman and I am a self taught metal worker, knife maker, and blacksmith. I specialize in making new items from old ones, recycling tools, bolts, railroad spikes, and more into useful tools and interesting conversation pieces. I love concepts of redemption and the opportunity to convert seemingly useless materials into items of beauty and utility. I started making things out of metal at about ten when my best friend discovered that we could hammer copper pipes into crude swords and swing them at each other. I've come a long way since then and built my first forge in 2013 out of salvaged red house bricks, some pipe, and a blow dryer. I'm still in my infancy in terms of learning, but new techniques, tools, and ideas, are always just around the corner and I love working them all together to create things that are new and exciting.
