Quality handmade Canadian quilts and stuffed animals
When you spend five months of the year huddled beside a fire to escape the cold, you can either go stir crazy or get crafty. Red Chickadee began as a creative outlet for my winter energy.
Having three children means having an abundance of lost socks. As the solitary socks piled around me, I found inspiration to make something from these lost soles! After creating some creatures for my children, I began to branch out and create sock stuffies for friends and family. Soon I couldn't keep up with the requests for these unique stuffies. I realized that people craved the loving touch of handmade toys. Something locally made and sourced with quality and affordability in mind. Red Chickadee was born.
Sock stuffies morphed into Button Buddies when my creative streak demanded funky fabrics and more diversity in my stuffy inventory. Button Buddies are all unique and include a special button detail.
Soon my creative energy turned to quilts. Having always loved and collected quilts, I often found their prices soared beyond my means. By sourcing locally made quilts, I'm able to keep costs down while providing beautiful blankets. Made by my friends and neighbours, the quilts are made using new or upcycled materials. Each is unique and made with love.
