About Reproduction Fabrics

Hello and welcome! I’m Margo Krager, the founder of *Reproduction Fabrics*, where history and textiles meet. Our shop specializes in high-quality reproduction cotton fabrics inspired by the prints and palettes of the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries. Whether you’re a quiltmaker, costume designer, re-enactor, or just someone who loves the feel of fabric with a story, you’re in the right place.

My journey began with a love for history and a background in science—I worked as a medical technologist for 15 years before changing "needles" in 1981 and opening my first fabric store in Newcastle, Wyoming. What started as a passion quickly grew into a lifelong mission: to preserve and share the beauty of historic printed textiles.

In 1987, I purchased a quilt shop in Bozeman, Montana, and began building what would become *Reproduction Fabrics*. Over the years, I’ve studied thousands of antique fabrics, collected original sample books from centuries past, and created more than two dozen fabric lines based on authentic prints. I’ve even written a booklet, *The Time Traveler's Guide to Printed Cottons*, to help others understand and appreciate the deep history behind these designs.

Today, we ship globally from our headquarters in Minneapolis, and we’re proud to serve a community of dedicated makers—from Broadway costumers to antique quilt restorers and historical reenactors. When you shop with us, you’re not just buying fabric—you’re bringing history back to life.
