Announcement   Welcome to Pittsburgh's own Re-stARTistry, where we're passionate about the art of fresh starts, i.e. repurposing and upcycling, finding new and creative uses for salvaged goods and items hungry for rescue (old doors, windows, scrap wood and fabric, etc.). We see the creative potential in every piece and are determined to bring new life (with a touch of handmade artistry) to goods that otherwise would be destined for the nearest landfill. And when you buy from us, a portion of each sale goes to support programming that gives back to women and girls who are pursuing a re-start in their own lives as well! Thank you for spending responsibly and supporting such a beautiful cause!

About

Igniting Contagious Hope for Becoming a Beautiful New Creation

Slowly. That's how I found my way into my work, my passion, my calling at REstartistry. I wish I could tell you that it happened all at once and that it's exactly what I had set out to do, but really, it didn't happen that way at all. God had me on a different plan. It was a slow discovery plan and it wasn't until I surrendered my control and gave way to His that I began to taste and see how delicious this journey to REstartistry could really be.

In 2006, I began to feel real discontent, more like a broken-heartedness in my inner-city teaching job, which put me on high alert for the clouds of change that were about to blow in. The needs of the kiddos I had taught for 18 years were increasing dramatically, year after year, day by day, moment by moment, and I felt as if there had to be more I could do to help combat the situation. Simply trying to "teach" them academics wasn't enough anymore; and thus, began my first step out on to the REstartist's journey when I proceeded to get certified as a Women's Life Purpose Coach. With this training, I learned how to help women tap into their passions and talents and discover their life's callings so they could live out the life that God had created them to live.

A few years later came step 2 in the REstartistry journey when I decided to take the plunge and leave my teaching job to pursue Life Purpose Coaching on a full-time basis, hoping to be able to give back to underprivileged women and girls and to make a difference in their lives where I previously wasn't able to do so. Well, that didn't turn out quite as I'd anticipated, and in my new-found downtime, I had abundant opportunities to create and pursue hobbies that I never had time to engage in before. That's also when I began noticing a plethora of doors lying on the sides of the roads as I'd drive through town and I'd think to myself, "It's such a shame that people are throwing away all those doors (amongst other perfectly good items). I wonder if I could make something out of them and help provide some repurposed items to disadvantaged women and kids, perhaps at a local women's shelter?" And with that, I snagged my first door from the curb, and embarked upon step #3 in the REstartistry journey.

Of course I didn't know it at the time, but the snagging of that one door would unleash all kinds of future "junk picking" adventures, to the point where people I knew began calling me to tell me that they had doors, windows, and other kinds of miscellaneous salvage materials that they were getting rid of if I wanted "first grab" at it. And slowly but surely, I found myself tinkering and toiling in the garage into the wee hours of the night coming up with new ideas for what to do with my next door and loving every minute of it! Somehow, I had stumbled upon my true passion and purpose and had found a way to intertwine the techniques of Life Purpose Coaching - unlocking human potential - with a hands-on, creative way to express future hope, hidden beauty, and God's message of transforming love, that all things can become a beautiful new creation!

See, I couldn't have planned it, but when I let go and let God lead me to it, it worked out in such a beautifully creative way, which brought me to today and how REstartistry blossomed into being.

Today, I find myself overjoyed with being able to have an Etsy storefront and the ability to encourage and inspire others to have contagious hope for living a transformed life as a beautiful new creation, and that's why I'm committed to giving back and using a portion of every sale to support REstartistry's work with disadvantaged women and girls, so that they too can come to know how beautiful they truly are.

Thanks for meeting me here and for supporting REstartistry in our beautiful cause to make the world a better place, one new creation at a time! We couldn't do without beautiful YOU!

Returns and exchanges
REFUNDS/EXCHANGES:
Our upcycled and repurposed items are end products resulting from a process that incorporates salvaged materials, used goods, and other “rescued” items and therefore should be considered “gently used” unless otherwise noted. Slight imperfections are normal for this type of item, and we do our best to fully disclose each item’s current condition. Please read the item description and check measurements carefully before your purchase. Our pictures speak a thousand words. All items are offered and sold 'as is' and because of this, we do not offer standard warranties or returns. However, we pride ourselves on offering you quality handmade goods backed by top-notch customer service, and we want you to be wholly satisfied with your experience at REstartistry, so if you feel we have grossly misrepresented an item, please contact us within 72 hours of shipment receipt so we can discuss a resolution.

The above refunds/exchanges policy applies also to our custom orders and purchases of “new” handmade goods as well.

Shipping charges are not refundable and are the responsibility of the buyer.

DAMAGES IN TRANSIT:
Should damage occur during shipping, please convo us within 48 hours of item receipt and provide a picture(s) of the damage that occurred, so that an insurance claim can be initiated and we can make arrangements for a suitable resolution.
Payment
Items should be paid for at the time of purchase. Re-stARTistry accepts PayPal and all major credit cards through Etsy's Direct Payment program. We also take Etsy Gift Cards. Personal checks are NOT accepted at this time.

Sales Tax is charged for purchases within the state of PA.
Shipping
We will make every attempt to ship your purchase within 1-3 business days of cleared payment. Our doors are shipped fully-protected, shrink-wrapped and covered in eco-friendly, upcycled cardboard packing material to ensure their safety in transit. We pack all of our other items safely in recyclable shipping materials as well.

We do not ship internationally at this time.

We use the United States Post Office to ship our smaller items, with insurance and item tracking included, unless you direct us to do otherwise. If you desire us to ship via UPS or Fed Ex, you must contact us and let us know.

As far as our doors and other over-sized pieces, we ship via Greyhound Package Express which offers the most economical option for shipping items of size and includes insurance. Online package tracking is not available through Greyhound Express so the buyer will be provided with a main phone # and invoice/ship receipt # for follow-up inquiries once the door has been shipped. Greyhound DOES NOT ship door to door, but rather station to station, and delivery can take between 5-7 business days to reach the final destination for customer pick up. When the piece arrives at its final destination, Greyhound will call the buyer for pickup. A 3-day pickup window will be permitted unless other arrangements are made. After that, Greyhound’s policy is for the item to be returned to the sender.

Shipping rates are calculated based on distance from Pittsburgh, PA, and typically range between $70 and $90. Shipping costs are estimated and are the responsibility of the buyer. Exact shipping costs will be calculated once you (the buyer) convo us with your zip code and the nearest Greyhound destination station can then be determined).

Please message us if you prefer to arrange a different carrier/method of shipping for your over-sized item.

Our listed US shipping quotes are "made in good faith" estimates. If your item ships for substantially less than quoted we will refund anything over $2.00 of the difference. (e.g. with our Doors' Shipping Profile, we are forced by programming limitations to list shipping costs at the maximum rate of $90 knowing full well that shipping costs to Zone A will only be $70. In that case, $20 will be fully refunded to the buyer to refund the over charge of shipping costs).
