Since I was very young I was dumpster diving, spending days at auctions, and waking up at the crack of dawn to garage sale. My mom and grandma taught me all about finding a good deal. For them it wasn’t about making money, but about saving money. It was also good entertainment. They were always in competition over who could find the ugliest piece of pottery (of a certain brand I won’t name).

My shop name comes from my maiden name Oehmigen. I was always known as Amy O...not just Amy. There was another Amy in my small class in school, also, who wants to write out or pronounce Oehmigen?

There were several years when I didn’t appreciate used items, and thought new was better. I have since recovered, and realized how much more interesting vintage items are. I especially love useful items that have a purpose. The things that are unique and not easily replaced….but are used every day anyway. I have a hard time parting with things that I might find useful someday, but am happy knowing that Etsy shoppers are selecting pieces they will really enjoy.
