About

Goodbye Ugly Clothes. Hello Stylish and Ecofriendly Patchwork Bags.

Did you know that the average American throws away 68 pounds of clothing per year? At least 50% of the trashed textiles are recyclable; however, only about 25% are actually reused or recycled. When you consider that the current US population is well over 300 million, it's easy to see that loads of usable textiles are wasted every year!

As the owner of a consignment store, I constantly had items come through my shop that were no longer sellable or wearable, but that just don't seem ready for the landfill. It honestly burdened me to see these items go to waste, but I couldn't seem to think of a way to use them. Finally, in the middle of the night one night, it came to me! Cut them up and make stuff! I already had a great love for sewing and creating things, and using discarded and unwanted clothing to make new and usable items was the logical next step. I love rescuing and repurposing seemingly useless materials to create unique new items. It is great fun to take a gawdy pair of pants, a shirt with a huge stain, and a skirt with faulty elastic, and cut them up and watch as they come together to create a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, completely useful new item!

At Retro Rehab Shop, you'll find truly one-of-a-kind items that are ecofriendly and full of style. Our patchwork quilted bags and the majority of our other items are made from recycled clothing and other repurposed textiles!

I hope you'll find something you just can't live without. Your purchase keeps a few more items out of the landfill and you can feel great about saving the environment...one cute item at a time!

As the owner of a consignment store, I constantly run across clothes that are no longer wearable, but that don't seem ready for the landfill. Solution? Cut them up and make stuff! My favorite creations are patchwork bags and stuffed toys.
