Vintage is Here to Stay
Several years ago Stefanie discovered an entirely new way of seeing. It sounds strange, but for a photographer, it's pretty big.
While on a cross-country road trip Stefanie stopped to take pictures of some vintage Route 66 motels in the small town of Seligman, AZ. Stefanie got out of the truck, placed the Supai Motel sign square in her viewfinder, and fell in love.
Some people might just see a sign, Stefanie saw a piece of art with history and a gorgeous sense of style. And in that very first frame, Retro Roadside Photography was born.
Since that day Stefanie has taken numerous road trips chasing vintage signs in an attempt to capture and preserve a disappearing culture. After each trip, Stefanie spends hours reviewing and editing photographs before test printing images to make sure the color is just right. Not wanting to limit her art to just wall art, Stefanie has expanded into pillow covers and enamel pins.
With each of her photographs, Stefanie aspires to increase awareness, appreciation, and preservation of these iconic places. For the vintage signs, fiberglass giants, and small road trip era businesses that are now gone, Stefanie hopes her work stands as a testament to their beauty and a reminder of what has been lost. Stefanie truly believes vintage is here to stay and it is her passion that drives Retro Roadside Photography ever forward.
