The piece was very inexpensive so I wasn’t entirely surprised to see it was more threadbare than I expected.

Sorry to hear this piece was not what you expected. One thing that's unique about vintage clothing is that price doesn't always reflect condition. Sometimes an item is inexpensive because of the era, brand, condition, while other times rare pieces can still show significant wear simply because they've been loved for decades. Threadbare areas are often a natural result of age and previous use rather than the original cost. I always do my best to evaluate each piece carefully and price accordingly. I hope this experience doesn't discourage you from shopping for vintage in the future. 🙂 Every vintage piece has its own story, and while some have more wear than expected, there are so many beautiful treasures out there that are well worth discovering.
