Handmade Goods From Quality Materials
Working with my hands has been a part of my life since I was a kid in my father's wood shop. I grew up in the country on a little farm in Pennsylvania where I gained a great sense of practicality and was able to work with all kinds of materials and tools.
After earning a business degree at Colorado State, and four years in Japan as a public school teacher, I finally settled in Los Angeles. It was here in LA I found my way back to my roots of working with my hands. After a few years in TV and film productions I started my current career as a freelance production designer and art director.
During down times from production designing I found my idle hands often searching for projects at home. It was the combination of my love for all power tools (in this case a sewing machine, so fast, so precise, so amazing) and my love for long lasting beautiful materials (in this case leather) that inspired me to start making hats and bags.
To me the joy of working with leather comes from its incredible long lasting beauty. Whatever you make, if its made with quality leather it will last forever and only get better with age. I feel the design and esthetic should come naturally from the materials used and then hopefully the work will have the esthetic and design that fits it best, uniquely and naturally.
