Discovering a hidden talent!
Before I became a stay-at-home mom, I had a successful career in IT. I travelled all over, working long hours and delivering to tight deadlines. I had little opportunity to get creative.
When my sister-in-law invited me on a day-long jewellery-making course, I went along to keep her company. In the space of around 5 hours, I learned all the skills I needed to make myself a bracelet, necklace and two pairs of earrings. I was completely hooked!
It was then that my obsession with beads began but at first, it was nothing more than a hobby. I'd make pieces for friends and family as gifts and then began to be asked to make jewellery for their friends and family.
With encouragement from friends, I took the plunge and opened a Facebook page and that's where Ring O' Roses really begain.
In the last 3 years, my profile as a jewellery designer and writer has grown. I've had my work and articles published both in the UK and US. I've won some pretty wonderful awards but most of all I have had the most FUN ever!
