The textile art and folk art that filled my artistic career.
My name is Rita Szöllősi, a Hungarian fashion designer inspired by the rich heritage of ancient Hungarian folk art. I live and work in the magical city of Budapest.
I graduated with distinction from the Hungarian University of Design and Art in 1984. Over the years, I have also explored tribal jewelry design, always seeking deeper cultural and artistic roots in my work.
While traditional Hungarian folk handicrafts were not always central to my earlier creations, I have recently embraced them with great love and admiration. I now rediscover and incorporate authentic antique Hungarian embroidery into my decorative pillow collections and handmade bags. Many of these beautiful textiles were once worn, forgotten, or destined to be discarded — I carefully clean, restore, and transform them into unique contemporary pieces.
My goal is to give these precious handcrafted works a new life in today’s modern homes, preserving their story and cultural value for future generations. Folk art and traditional craftsmanship have accompanied me throughout my life, and the time has finally come for me to fully express my Hungarian heritage in my designs.
Both my new pillows and my handmade bags celebrate the diversity of Hungarian embroidery and textile traditions. Each piece carries history, craftsmanship, and individuality.
I feel truly fortunate that my profession is also my passion. All my creations are handmade in Hungary and represent my Hungarian and European artistic identity.
Through my work, I aim to celebrate cultural heritage and contribute to a more connected and appreciative world through art and craftsmanship.
Ritzy Studio specializes in unique artistic textiles, handmade bags, and distinctive home décor.
I hope you will love my creations as much as I love making them — and I look forward to welcoming you back, as I create new collections every season.
