As I taught myself to make knives, bladesmithing slowly became an art form for me.

5 out of 5 starsI ordered this as a Christmas gift for my husband right before Thanksgiving. Every step of the way I received pictures, updates, and information as this knife was created. My husband loves it and it got to us well before the holiday. Many many thanks to the exceptional blacksmith! When I need a Viking sword for him, I will be back.

5 out of 5 starsExcellent knife, razor sharp out of the box and it retained it's edge after cutting with it. This will be my new EDC for sure...

5 out of 5 starsPurchased for a "Vikings" fan husband. The only thing I could find that looked legit-- worth every penny!!!!! I swear my husband's going to start carrying this ax with him as he works and hunts our 100 acres. He can't stop looking at it and fiddling with it. Holding it, there is a weight and sturdiness that I didn't expect. This is not a toy – it's a real Ax. It's so beautifully made, obviously with much love-- Incredible attention to detail. I'm considering buying him another one to keep pristine and beautiful so he can hang this one on his belt loop and carry it around the woods!

5 out of 5 starsPros: great, personable seller who ships like lightning. Beautiful, tough materials in blade and handle. Sheath not only fits knife, but sits well on the body. Chops great! Con's: needed some sharpening. I think it would be a better all around cut if the grind had been just a bit thinner closest the edge, it goes full thickness to edge a tad abruptly.

5 out of 5 starsAbsolutely great. Better than I had imagined it would be. I special ordered this item without the handle, and will post the finished piece when I'm done with it. The owner of this shop is great to deal with, and has a fast turnaround time. Service like this is one of the main reasons I am proud to be part of the ETSY community. Thanks Richard. Corey

5 out of 5 starsI was stunned when I pulled this blade from its packaging and unwrapped it. The leather sheath is gorgeously carved. (There's a satisfying thwack as you slide the blade home.) The leather is stained evenly. But then the magic happens when you remove the blade. The hamon is perfectly applied and polished to a nice contrast. This is an art unto itself and a prized skill in Japanese sword making. Mr. Fenlon has brought the beauty out of this blade doing that tradition proud. The habaki is perfectly aligned. The tsuba is gracefully adorned. The hilt (you can remove the menuki pen and reveal the tang and Mr. Fenlons initials. Great traditional touches!) is a wood that almost glows and is well sealed. The fittings on a Japanese blade are truly a test of a smith's skills, and Mr. Fenlon delivered showing his abilities clearly. Love it.

5 out of 5 starsThis goes with me at all times. I know that the maker hoped that it would be a display piece. But it will be a working knife. The handle is the pettyist wood I have ever seen. The blade is a work of genus.

5 out of 5 starsWhat do you get when creative inspiration and a true mastery of bladesmithing align? A beautiful Dagger straight out of Middle Earth! Richard was inspired by Tolkien’s works while creating this one of a kind Dagger, and I have to say, he hammered this one out of the park; the Elves would be impressed. This could easily be a collector’s item, but I’d rather use it as a fully functional blade to blaze trails, filet Fish and cut kindling in addition to many other uses. The handle made from Elk Antler fits my hand perfectly; like it was custom-made for me and it has an even weight distribution with plenty of power on the downstroke. The hand-made sheath is just as beautiful, and I respect the handcrafted work that went into it as well. Bladesmithing is in his DNA.

I'm a retired Police Sergeant from South Florida that has collected knives since I was a kid. My first knife was a folding boy scout knife. I decided to learn how to make knives so I read a few books, did a bunch of research and started making them.
