Announcement   Everything in my Etsy shop is handmade in my attic studio. I make stained glass, paintings, drawings, dolls and unique doll fashions. My current focus is customizing Asian ball jointed dolls. I paint them, dress them and make wigs. View more of my items at my website: www.MadWifeInTheAttic.com.

My doll clothes are one-of-a-kind or made in very small editions. They are original designs and entirely handmade. Occasionally I work collaboratively with another crafter or I may commission a special element. My goal is to make your doll an heirloom and a work of art.

Thank you for your support of Etsy and the craft community.

About

Dolls provide me a unique opportunity to combine many crafts. And you can play with them -- what could be better?

Like many artists and crafters, I've been "making things" as far back as I can remember. For my earliest creations, I secretly cut dress-shapes out of my own clothes and crudely sewed them onto my dolls. Kind aunts gave me art supplies for Christmas each year and there was nothing so thrilling as a big, blank tablet and the smell of a fresh box of oil pastels. Later, I studied art at university with an emphasis on weaving. In the following years, I worked in an office and continued to look for opportunities to make things, take classes, and get inspiration from other artists.

Recently, I've embraced my life-long love of dolls. I've found that they are the perfect vehicle to combine almost every medium that I love: fabric, yarn, paint, fashion, clay, photography... I've often managed to even incorporate metal and glass into my doll fashions. The most wonderful thing about my dolls is that they don't just languish on a shelf--you must touch.

My neighbors have noted that they expect to see the light coming from my quarter-circle attic windows late into the night. I love being sequestered in my cluttered attic studio--when things are going well, time just stands still. That's how I came to call myself the "mad wife in the attic." I hope you'll enjoy browsing my work. I have more photos of my work archived on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/robbin_with_2_bs/

I grew up among family who brought creativity into their lives in practical ways such as quilting, making clothes, and woodworking. Those handmade items with all their attention to the finest detail are what define my values as a crafter.

Thank you for considering my handmade items for your collection. There is nothing more thrilling for me than seeing my work displayed and enjoyed in someone else's home.

Everything in my shop is entirely handmade. Sometimes I commission another artist to knit or crochet a special component. I enjoy making things lovely on the back-side and inside as well. I try to make every detail absolutely perfect, but it is the nature of handmade items that there may be tiny imperfections. Please study the pictures as I always try to photograph things accurately.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments about my work or shop policies.

Returns and exchanges
If you are unhappy with your order for any reason please contact me within 5 working days of receiving your package. I will do my best to resolve the problem quickly.

Refunds and exchanges are considered on a case-by-case basis. Please select items carefully. As a crafter, I do not have the resources of a department store so I cannot sell items "on approval." I am happy to answer questions, take additional photos, measurements, etc. If an item is accepted for return or replacement, return shipping will be the buyer's responsibility. Refunds are less shipping.

Refunds will only be considered for items returned in the same condition as they were when shipped. Items that have been mishandled will not be accepted. Remember that many items are naturally fragile and should be handled gently.

Proper care is always taken to ship your order to arrive safely. I am unable to accept returns for items damaged in transit. All shipments are fully insured so claims for loss or damage in shipping should be filed with the Postal Service.
Payment
I accept payments by Paypal and Etsy Direct Check-Out and U.S. postal money-orders.

You do not need a PayPal Account to pay for your items through PayPal: You can choose the PayPal Option during checkout. After you submit your order click the “Pay Now” button. Scroll Down and you will see the option to pay with a Credit or Debit Card WITHOUT having to sign up for a PayPal account.

Payment must be made in full and have cleared before the item is shipped.

Items paid for by money order will be shipped when payment is presented to and honored by my bank. This will usually delay your shipment by 2-3 days.
Shipping
I ship using U.S. Postal Service priority mail with insurance and delivery confirmation. The shipping cost is stated in each listing. Generally, my shipping fee is slightly less than the actual cost to me.

If you order more than one item, you will only pay shipping on the item with the highest shipping fee -- additional items will ship with it for free.

If your order is a gift going directly to the recipient, I can include a personal message card from you for no extra charge. If you would like this service please let me know what you would like me to write (to fit on a postcard) in the "message to seller" during checkout.

All orders are securely packed. They will be wrapped in tissue paper and are usually gift boxed for a nice presentation. I recycle outer boxes, bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts.

If your Paypal checkout and Etsy order address are different, I will always ship to the Etsy address unless you provide a note to seller stating otherwise.

Orders are shipped as soon as possible after payment receipt. Often, I can ship the following business day but you may expect shipment within 3 business days. Please select items carefully, I cannot cancel an order once I have shipped.

Since international shipping can't be determined until items are packaged, please contact me for the shipping cost to your country. I ship items myself and I am not an expert on the customs and import laws or other countries. Please do not purchase an item from me if it is not legal to ship that material to your country. I reserve the right to refuse to ship to a location if I do not feel confident that I understand your country's restrictions or that it will arrive safely. International purchases cannot be returned or refunded. Items will be designated as "merchandise" and the buyer is responsible for all customs fees and taxes. Please remember that delivery time for orders outside the United States will vary depending on customs handling.

Although many of my items may appear to be toys, they are intended for adult collectors. My only objective is to make something beautiful so there is no effort to make things safe for children.
