Historic designs meet modern techniques
I've loved period fashions since I was a child, and eventually that love grew into a passion for recreating – and wearing – historic clothing and accessories. I delight in beautiful fabrics, fine details, and period construction techniques, along with the judicious use of modern tools and methods to streamline the process.
Some details capture the imagination more than others, and yet are the most time-consuming to recreate. For many years I've been intrigued by the possibilities of machine embroidery, but was disappointed in the historical accuracy of available designs. With this collection I hope to fill that gap and provide a source of quality embroidery for the avid historic costumer.
I strive to make my embroidery designs as historically accurate and representative of period hand embroidery techniques as possible. Each design is carefully researched and is based on extant garments or period publications and paintings. All of the designs are professionally digitized and tested on a wide range of commercial and home machines.
I try to remain faithful to the design, and in some cases choose to leave in small imperfections that help create the illusion of embroidery by hand rather than machine. The designs are optimized to work with natural fiber threads, such as silk, cotton, and wool blends to help further an authentic period look.
I hope you enjoy using and wearing these designs as much as I've enjoyed creating them.
