Enjoy life as it comes, not as you expected it to be.
A love for fashion has run in my family for many generations where designing clothing was a love collided with necessity. I started sewing and designing my own clothing as a way to release myself from clothing limited for my mom because of war. I wanted the best outfits without having to pay a lot. This started my love for 70s designers such as Betsey Johnson, and John Kloss, where I decided my love for sewing and great design would launch me into the world of fashion design. My first job was a tailor for men's clothing, where I was fired shortly after being hired-at that time men did not want to be fitted by a high school girl-or more correctly their wives didn't.
With my designing heart crushed, I continued classes for fashion design, but decided to study to become a Microbiologist-my college classes consisting of "chemistry" and 'history of the bustle".
Years later, my designer heart had finally mended and I retired as a Microbiologist. To keep myself busy I opened a children's clothing store on Etsy where I create mostly costumes for wee ones (peapodray.etsy.com). I also decided it was time to thin out my pattern collection and Roma's Maison was born, dedicating this shop to my mom Roma.
As my collection started to dwindle down, I now keep an eye out for my next discovery mission to rescue, love, and then pass on to you that next pattern. Finding designs from a time past creates such nostalgic memories once forgotten.
