This Privacy Policy describes how Rooted & Called collects, uses, and shares information when you purchase an item from this shop, contact the shop, or use the secure Called to Manhood customization service connected to an Etsy order. It does not apply to Etsy or other services we do not own or control. Please review Etsy's Privacy Policy for Etsy's practices.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

To fulfill an order, Etsy provides information such as the buyer's name, email address, order number, purchased listing, and transaction details. Etsy processes payment information; Rooted & Called does not receive full payment-card details.

For a personalized journal, the adult purchaser may provide a boy's first name, age or age band, selected Bible translation, companion path, themes, and optional schedule dates. The customization service is intended for adult purchasers. Please do not provide a child's surname, address, contact information, school, or other unnecessary identifying information.

WHY WE USE INFORMATION

We use information only as needed to fulfill and support an order: verifying payment, granting secure access, authenticating the purchaser, generating the requested journal, delivering downloads and transactional messages, preventing fraud or misuse, resolving disputes, providing customer support, complying with Etsy's policies, and meeting legal or tax obligations.

We do not add Etsy buyers to marketing lists or send promotional email without separate, affirmative consent.

LEGAL BASES

Where applicable, we process information because it is necessary to perform the purchase contract and provide the requested product; to comply with legal obligations; with affirmative consent where specifically requested; and for legitimate interests such as securing, supporting, and improving the service, provided those interests are not overridden by the buyer's rights.

SHARING AND SERVICE PROVIDERS

Information is shared only in limited circumstances:
- Etsy, as needed to complete transactions and comply with Etsy's Terms and Seller Policy.
- Trusted service providers that host the customization app, authenticate users, automate order fulfillment, store access records, and send transactional email. These currently include Netlify, Supabase, n8n, and the selected transactional email provider. They receive only the information needed to provide those services.
- Legal or safety disclosures when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce agreements, prevent fraud or security problems, or protect customers and others.
- A permitted business transfer, if the shop is sold or reorganized, subject to applicable law.

PERSONALIZATION DATA AND GENERATED FILES

Journal answers are processed to generate the requested files and are not used for advertising. The current generator creates the files on request and does not intentionally retain the completed journal or personalization answers after generation. Order and access records may include the buyer email, Etsy order and listing identifiers, purchased tier, fulfillment timestamps, and download status.

RETENTION

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, support customers, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, accounting, or tax obligations. Order and access records are generally retained for up to four years unless a longer period is legally required or a valid deletion request permits earlier removal.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Rooted & Called is based in the United States and uses service providers that may process information in the United States or other countries. Where required, transfers are made based on contractual necessity and appropriate safeguards offered by the applicable provider and law.

YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, receive, or request deletion of personal information. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent and may complain to your local data-protection authority. Some information may be retained where required by law or needed for legal claims.
