Rooted North Botanica: A Season of Growth
Rooted North Botanica is the newest chapter in a creative journey that began more than a decade ago.
I first opened my Etsy shop after becoming a mom and discovering something I hadn’t fully realized about myself: I needed to create. What started with handmade paper garlands grew into years of experimenting, making, designing and finding new ways to bring a little more beauty and personality into everyday life.
And then, unexpectedly, I found plants.
It started simply enough with one plant and a beautiful pot for my office. I wanted my workspace to feel warmer, more personal and more like somewhere I actually wanted to spend my time. One plant became another, and somewhere along the way, curiosity turned into a genuine love of growing things.
I fell in love with learning about different plants, what makes them thrive, and all the tiny details of light, soil, humidity and care. But even more than growing them, I discovered how much I love living with them.
To me, plants are living art.
They change a room. They soften it, warm it and bring it to life. I’ve found so much joy in styling spaces around greenery and watching my own home slowly become a place that feels more alive, inviting and unmistakably mine.
Plants have also brought an unexpected sense of calm into my life. There is something wonderfully grounding about fussing over a new leaf, noticing when a plant needs a drink, celebrating new growth or simply sitting in a room surrounded by green. During a season of change in my own life, caring for and creating with plants became a place to put my energy, curiosity and creativity.
A long-dreamed-of trip to Costa Rica only deepened that connection. Being surrounded by lush tropical foliage and seeing nature create its own spectacular version of art changed the way I looked at greenery, spaces and the feeling of being surrounded by things that are alive and growing.
Rooted North Botanica grew from all of that.
This shop is where my love of art, plants, interiors and creativity meet. I’m beginning this new chapter with botanical-inspired digital art and designs, but I’m leaving plenty of room for Rooted North Botanica to grow and evolve right along with me.
Because sometimes growth is a new leaf.
And sometimes it’s discovering a completely new part of yourself.
