Family owned business creating handmade wooden keepsakes.
I'm Jessica, the owner and artist behind Rooted in Life and Love. I have always enjoyed being creative. One of my earliest memories is sitting beside my sister with a crayon and piece of construction paper copying what I saw her draw. Now days I've upgraded my art tools :) And if you see me out and about 9 times out of 10 I've got paint on me somewhere.
I have 3 beautiful kiddos and an amazing supportive hubby. I have a sarcastic sense of humor. I love a really good cup of coffee and then like 5 more after that :) I may have a slight caffeine problem.
I truly enjoy art in all its forms. From photography to sculpting to poetry to crafting and more I am inspired by my fellow artists.
I love reading. Science fiction, fantasy and comic books can be found on my shelves.
I find such satisfaction in creating and helping to bring someone's vision to life.
Art has always been part of my life in one way or another. And over the years I've had opportunities to create commissioned pieces. From calligraphy to portraits I've enjoyed every step of my journey as an artist.
Rooted in Life and Love came out of pain over a miscarriage. I was stuck in my sadness, not sure how to move. I needed to refocus my energies, more importantly turn my focus on my 2 kiddos in front of me. That's when I saw a picture of peg dolls on the Internet, and I knew my kids would love them. From there I had several friends who saw them and asked if I would make some for their children. And it hit me maybe I could turn my love of art and this new art form that made my kiddos smile into a business. My husband is actually the one who came up with the name. He said "call in Rooted in Life, because that's what peg dolls did for you. Focus on life ". I may have had 2 miscarriages but I'm rooted in the life of my family, my now 3 beautiful kids and my loving husband. And now having the opportunity to produce safe toys for children, figures to celebrate special occasions, and pieces that help commemorate a life I feel like I've arrived at a place with my art that only excites me thinking about what lies ahead.
