All in the Family
TWO COMPUTERS, ONE LOVE
My husband, Roger, and I are a "later in life" Match.com story: two suddenly-single Baby Boomers searching for new life partners. We were both a bit nervous about starting over (especially at our ages), but were fortunate to connect our kindred spirits through the wonder of technology. Finally, a perfect match made...ONLINE! It was love at first email. 📧 We were married in 2012 and are still going strong.
WE JUMP INTO ETSY
Early in our relationship, we enjoyed spending time on projects together and decided to tinker around with ideas for a joint hobby that MIGHT also bring in a bit of extra income as well. We both have backgrounds in the creative world (Roger is retired from a successful career in the motion picture/TV industry and I was the merchandise buyer and retail sales manager for a major Southern California theme park as well as having experience in graphic design). We came across Etsy and thought that we could give it a shot and start an online business.
We opened our first Etsy shop "Rosie's Vintage Prints" in 2011, and then "Rosie's Pendants" (now Rosie's Design Studio) in June of 2013. We started our jewelry shop out by offering hand-created pendant necklaces, but we soon expanded to other jewelry items, accessories, and gifts. To our amazement and delight, Rosie's Design Studio became so successful that I had to quit my full-time job in order to focus my energy on our Etsy businesses. Roger is my cheerleader and provides loving support from the sidelines.
In 2024 I partnered with my sister, Jill, and her husband Rich to expand our business and to offer state-of-the-art products. I - Kim (Rosie) design our items and curate the shop as well as handling customer service...Jill and Rich lovingly process each order and ship from their home studio in North Carolina.
A MODEL FAMILY
The beautiful gal on our shop banner and avatar? That's our grandmother, Eleanor Rose, in 1930, wearing her wedding dress and hat. We named our shop in her honor. Other models used in our listing photos include several of our family members, our two Corgis: Cooper & Dweezil (RIP), and Zoey, our beautiful Borzoi (RIP).
Our items have been featured on ABC News, HGTV, Buzzfeed, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lifetime TV, and Brides.com, are carried in numerous gift shops across the country including the Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill National Historic Site gift shop, Edgar Allan Poe Museum gift shop, the Seattle Public Library gift shop, and, recently, we were honored to create customized items for NATO. We also have a following of celebrity customers who love our creations.
FEELIN' GROOVY
We think that it's pretty cool (Baby Boomer speak) that we "slightly vintage" folks are able to make a living doing something we all love, making other people happy..and doing it all ONLINE!
