Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

Silver, brass and gold fill will eventually tarnish. I recommend using a jewelry cleaning cloth to polish your jewelry. My favorite way to clean my own silver chains is to use an equal mixture of baking soda and salt in a foil lined container and pour boiling water in. Then dip your chain onto the silver. It's easy and no harsh chemicals needed!

Precious Metal Clay

Precious metal clay is recycled silver mixed with an organic binder and becomes .999 fine silver when fired in a kiln. Fine silver is a higher concentration of silver than sterling.

Threaded Earring Post vs. Regular Post

Some of my earrings have the option between a regular earring post and a threaded or screw on style. They are both made of sterling silver and are both the same height. There is a slight size difference between the thickness of the diameter between the two. The regular posts that I use are .030 inch and the threaded posts are .036" (so 3/500th of an inch difference)

I would recommend the screw posts and backings because they are more secure, are more durable, and they are better suited for different types of piercings. They also cost more to make which is why the price is higher.

Custom and personalized orders

One of my favorite parts of what I do as a maker is to get custom orders. I love working with clients to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are unique and special just for them! If you are interesting in working with me to have something made just message me or email me and lets get started.

Gold vs. Gold Plated vs Gold Filled

When your looking at gold jewelry there are many different terms that come up. The most popular are Solid Gold, Gold Filled, and Gold Plated. It is important to know the differences between Gold Filled jewelry and Gold Plated jewelry when making your choice. Solid gold is of course an exquisite piece of jewelry. Gold filled is the next affordable level and is a quality alternative to solid gold. Gold plating is the lower level of gold jewelry and these items tend to tarnish and can often times turn the skin green.
