What an amazing studio. This is why I love Etsy. After falling in love with this art-deco-ish bed, I new I needed the right light to compliment it but could not locate any in the UK. I was very nervous order such fragile products from the US but the packaging was superb and the products arrived within a few weeks. Being made to order, I was kept informed all the way and allowed to make changes to cord colour. The brass is matt which is what I wanted for a more authentic look. Wish I could share more close up photos but I feel this represents the size better. Very easy to install and if you're in the UK: screwfix.co.uk offer plus to change from US to UK. The lamps came wired for UK voltage, perfect. Many thanks to a wonderful seller! Jenny @seasonsincolour www.seasonsincolour.com London, UK

About

Rough Luck Studio

Hi there,

My name is Matthew Alford, and I own and operate Rough Luck Studio. We are a tiny lighting studio in Long Island City, Queens.

The goal of my studio is to bridge the gap between manufacturer and consumer. Rough Luck does not wholesale - we only sell directly to our clients (HELLO customization!). With a passion for real materials (no cheap finishes here), our designs are clean, elegant, happy, and honest.

Thanks so much for checking us out. Please don't hesitate to shoot us a message with any questions. Or just to say hey, that's cool too :)

Have a good one,

Matt

Frequently asked questions

Care instructions

As with life, be gentle. Don't use any harsh chemicals. Our brass is solid and unlacquered, if left untouched it will develop a rich and beautiful patina over time. Should you want to return the brass to it's original luster, we recommend a product called Brasso, which can be found at your local hardware store.

I have placed an order, when will it ship?

We work hard to keep the lead-times listed on Etsy as up to date as possible. Unless you are otherwise notified, your order will ship within the listed timeline.

Can I customize this fixture?

YES! Absolutely. Common customizations include changing the cord color, the switch mechanism, or dimensions. Please shoot us a message with any customization requests prior to placing your order.

Talk to me about your brass

Well, okay! Our solid brass is heavy gauge, and is not lacquered. It is polished by hand, and then covered in a thin layer of artisanal microcrystalline wax (Theres a $10 word for ya). This leaves the fixture with a deep, matte luster.

I am a blogger, can you send me a free product in exchange for promotion?

Thank you so much for showing us some love! Please blog about us - it makes our heart sing! Buuuut, unfortunately we cannot offer free product in exchange.
