Socially responsible, sweatshop free manufacturing

It's hard to find brands that are actually made in Canada. Here's our promise to you: any product you purchase from us will be 100% designed, printed, and made in Canada.

----Socially responsible, sweatshop free manufacturing----
All our apparel is made here in Canada, under socially conscious manufacturing practices. We use a family-owned supplier that knits, dyes, cuts, and sews every garment in Toronto, Ontario. Our screen printer is also an independently owned company right around the corner.

Like us, these businesses firmly believe in the quality of Canadian labour and the necessity for humanity in employment. While many manufacturers have moved overseas, exploiting cheap labour, our partners have committed to running their businesses on Canadian soil. They conduct all their manufacturing in bright and airy premises with fair wages and complete medical and dental coverage. Their employees are friends and family and are considered partners in their success.

We intentionally choose our suppliers because we believe in the ethics of fair labour and the quality of Canadian craftsmanship.

----Responsible, green business practices----
Being environmentally conscious is an inherent part of our business model. Our apparel supplier uses state-of-the-art knitting machines to reduce energy consumption, their dye house uses only nontoxic materials, and their cutting and sewing department recycles upwards of 10% of their textile waste. Our screen printer pioneered the use of water-based inks in Toronto and uses and modern, efficient machines. We even sweat the small things, like reusing boxes between our suppliers.

----Eco-friendly materials (with benefits)----
A good portion of our apparel line is made from bamboo. Bamboo does not require fertilizers or pesticides for cultivation and it grows rapidly and profusely without depleting the soil. It has a lower environmental impact than pesticide-laden conventional cotton and petroleum-derived nylon fabrics. Bamboo is also a superior fabric in terms of softness and functionality. It is naturally moisture wicking and anti-bacterial, allowing it to repel odours and toxins. It's even hypo-allergenic and UV resistant.

Frequently asked questions
Are the pictured license plates the ones that will be in my piece?

Please note the license plates in the product image will not be the same year or numbers on the piece you receive. A similar plate will be used that will be the same province and colour. For my Canada map pieces, the plates will more or less be the same colours, with small substitutions possible based on my license plate inventory. Please contact me before your purchase if you have any special requests.

Can I expect variations in the wood used from the product pictures?

There will be variations in the wood that I use and it may not appear exactly as the wood in the listing. Especially with the barnboard, wood grain, knots, holes, colour, and shape will vary from piece to piece.

What about the wood stain colour?

Due to the variation in colour settings on each monitor, I cannot guarantee that the stain you have chosen will look exactly like it looks on your specific monitor. Every monitor displays colour differently and the wood stain colour on your piece in person may look different than your monitor's screen colour.

Are the license plates flush with the wood?

My art uses real license plates cut using tin snips and/or lasers. The plates can be sharp after cut! The plates are nailed to a wood backing and the nails are not always completely flush with the wood. Please be careful handling your new art after you receive it. It is meant to be placed on the wall, out of reach.
