As I am a bilingual mother of three inquisitive children, with the last one born in spring of 2017, Russian in origin and currently living in Canada, I would love my children to be able to speak and read both Russian and English fluently. I also want them to have fun learning the names of vegetables, shapes, colours, animals, and so on. Thus I have started making flash cards for them to learn various terms in both languages.
Since I have studied French and German before, I have created the cards for those languages as well, and then added Spanish as several people have asked for it. The translation cards are fun for adults as well as children, to make language learning into a game. My English-speaking partner has been learning Russian words along with my toddler, and my oldest is now learning French in addition to English and Russian.
I am also working on a series of educational materials to teach children about vegetables and healthy eating.
In Rowan Tree Shoppe, I share these tools in hopes that other parents find them useful.
