Ruffled Sisters started the way the best things do. Not as a plan, but as a hobby. My sister is an attorney by day, but what she loves most is thrifting and making things with her hands. She started reworking thrifted button-downs into ruffle collar tops just for fun, and somewhere along the way the shirts got so good that people kept asking where they could buy one. That's when I stepped in to handle the business side, and Ruffled Sisters was born.
Every piece starts at a thrift store. We hunt for button-downs with great fabric, interesting patterns, and good bones. My sister does all the sewing by hand, cutting and stitching each collar into a soft, flouncy ruffle that completely transforms the shirt. It takes time and it takes care, and you can feel that when you hold one. No two shirts are ever the same, because no two thrift finds are ever the same.
We care about making fashion that doesn't cost the earth. Buying secondhand isn't a compromise. It's a choice we're proud of. Every shirt we sell was already out in the world, given a second life instead of ending up in a landfill. When you buy from us, you're getting something handmade, one of a kind, and made with a lot of love by two sisters who think clothes should mean something.
